Microblading: Frequently Asked Questions
Microblading is an innovative technique which helps save all those who suffer from what we like to call SES (Sparse Eyebrows Syndrome). The procedure uses a pen-like tool that gently etches each “hair stroke” into the skin. The realistic hair strands created by Microblading are nearly impossible to distinguish from the real hair. The end result is a greatly improved overall look with desired thickness and appealing shape.
This procedure is useful for anyone who wants to fix any and all aesthetic issues in their eyebrows.
Microblading is extremely effective and can give you the exact look you envision. Our professionals can create any look you want. You can bring in reference photographs to help you recreate your desired look; or use their expertise to shape the brow design that suits you. The esthetician will drawn out a template on your eyebrows before performing the actual treatment to ensure your satisfaction before starting the treatment.
The overall process to reconstruct and redefine your eyebrows is a meticulous, detailed process which will take roughly 2 hours to complete.
The hair strokes created by Microblading will heal in a short period of time, usually a couple of days. However, the results become more attractive over next 25-30 days as the pigment settles and fades to give a more natural look. This does not mean that the treatment will not look good immediately, but the pigment will settle over this time, revealing the full results. There is no need to adjust your daily routine during this period.
The pain from the service is minimal, since a topical numbing cream is applied. It is typically described as slight discomfort during treatment with no pain afterwards.
The results can last up to three years before fading and requiring another treatment. This can vary based on skin type and skin maturity. Certain skin-care products may speed up the fading process, like AHA or Glycolic Acid. You can still use these products, but it is good practice to avoid placing them directly on the eyebrows.
Definitely! A one-time touch-up 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment for 1 hour will help to improve the treatment, adjust pigment color, refill areas, etc. If you wish to maintain a fresh look and extend the longevity of the treatment, it is a smart idea to retouch every 12-18 months.
There are no common risks associated with Microblading. For side effects, it is normal for slight redness/swelling and a light sun-burn feeling for clients with extra sensitive skin. This should go away within 12-48 hours post treatment. Clients can take Tylenol (Acetaminophen) but not Aspirin or Advil (Ibuprofen). As always, please notify your medical aesthetician of any health concerns you may have before the treatment (diabetes, blood pressure, blood thinners etc.).
A major difference between the two is that microblading is successful in drawing individual strokes along the brow which more realistically imitates real hair. If you are looking for a more natural and blended look for your eyebrows, then Microblading is for you.
